Cure for Chicken Coop Envy

First coop with diy ladder

Back view of the old coop

After putting together our first coop a year and a half ago, we were is desperate need of an upgrade.  After months of inaction we finally traded in our unrealistic coop dreams for a pimped out chicken coop de ville renovated with the junk accumulating in our backyard.  Shabby chic(ken) coop design at its best.

Awesome! We moved to an old place about 15 years ago & there was some sort of old shed/grain bin/building thing that we were able to turn into our shabby chic coop! Good on ya for makin' do & having chickens!

We noticed pallets at my husband's work and he was able to start bringing them home for free... On backyardchickens.com there is a pallet-based coop plan for $15, but I think that you could improvise. We are collecting as many as possible for 28 chickens from 4H... one massive coop or a few small ones, I don't know yet, but reclaiming pallets + free lumber isn't bad!
