Gardening happened to me very early. I got my first garden when I was about 4 years old (it was a large bed with perennial flowers) and I created my first vegetable garden when I was a teenager. So very likely the gardening had a big influence on me from the very beginning.

…it’s hard for me to think of the garden as a place to grow food, as much as it is a place to work with my partners in life, such as the insects, the critters, the plants, the soil, the micro life, and the environment.

…anyone at all no matter who you are or where you live, you can garden! I have had homeless friends who gorilla garden, friends with profound disabilities who garden, people who are poor and do not own property who garden.
