Anyone have success with a particular kind of grapes or pecan tree in the Phoenix valley? I am looking for long term shade and food value, that will survive Tonopah heat!

I talked to Bob (I think his name was Bob) at the Tonopah farmer's market and he said to look at how many days of cool weather the tree or bush required, and for the valley to keep it around 250 days, to 300 max, or blooms would not turn into fruit/nuts/berries, etc. He is growing pecans, pomegranites, avacados, peaches, apricots, black grapes, and I forgot what all, in addition to his veggies. I was so impressed!

He also recommended Elgin nursery on McDowell. He said he had good luck with their stock, and they were reasonably priced.
